I lusted after the Melissa Riding Tall boots for weeks and then finally took advantage of Amazon's price. Well, I have wide-ish size 9 feet, but I fit into pretty much every shoe I try on. I'm also a bigger gal--size 14/16--so my calves are not slender, but not ginormous, either. There was no way on earth that I could even come close to fitting my foot through the shaft of these boots and into the shoe. Well seeing them being sold out at many websites I gave in and ordered them from here because the price was one of the best. I ordered an 8.5 because I'm between an 8-9. They are a bit longer then other shoes I have because of the style of boot. When I got them I took them into a cowboy/riding boot store to have the store see how they fit on my foot. They were perfect. I immediately bought leather protection and silicon spray to protect them.Having worn them almost every day for a couple weeks they have broken in beautifully. The first couple times they hurt a bit but once the leather stretches to your foot... perfect! I was worried about the shaft opening not being wide enough (my calfs are 14.5" around) but they fit great with room to wear pants under without being tight. I love them. There was a small 'defect' with them as someone forgot to cut the leather piece that covered the zipper on the inside of the boot, making it extremely difficult to get the one boot on and off. I didn't realize it until just over 30 days, so I called Frye directly. They were a pleasure to work with and quite accommodating of my needs and covered fixing the slight issue (since they didn't have another pair in my size and color, they couldn't exchange).I highly recommend these boots! I have very skinny calves so, its really hard for me to find boots that don't swim on my calves. Infact, I looked for tall boots for the last 7 years and never found a pair that didn't look silly. These boots were an investment, but totally worth the price tag. |
