The heel height is just right for me; feels great even after wearing it for 5 hours around town! I don't have wide feet but it does feel a little bit snug when I wear it with thick socks. Also the heel is quite big, slip a little when I walk but you can adjust the strap and now it's perfect. I normally wear a size 6.5 or 7. But for Frye boots, their sizes are so inconsistant, I can fit into a sz 6 for Frye Vera! My suggestion is to go half a size down but if you have wider feet order your regular shoe size. Seriously, this boot doesn't look that cute online but when I opened the box and saw the boot's quality, I know this one is a keeper! It is made in Mexico, the leather is thick, although the shaft has no lining, it still holds up well with just a little slouch --so cute! I find it so versatile to wear it with skinny jeans, tights or short dress. I know the price is $$$, if you can, just give it a try. As it turns out, Frye makes two versions of Black of this boot. Most wholesalers (at least the ones I looked at to purchase these shoes) only offer one type of black and label it simply as "Black," rather than the Black Calf Shine Vintage and the Black Burnished Antiqued Leather that Frye makes. I ordered the Antiqued leather, which is, I think, the version pictured above, and it sounds like the reviewer above me received the Shine Vintage version as the Antiqued look very far from shiny... closer to powder-y. So if you're going to order these, I'd recommend looking up the pictures for the Shine leather version, as they'll be more accurate. Just thought I'd make that distinction more clear to other buyers. Other than the color issue, these are beautiful and insanely comfortable boots that are truly built to last a lifetime. I'd say running about a 1/2 a size big though. No problem with a thicker sock. The antiqued black that I thought I was ordering however, is not like the picture. It's more like a slightly shiny black/grey. It's nice, but not like the image shown at all. Was hoping for that "distressed" look, but instead got a newer looking boot. I still love them though, a classic everyday boot that looks very cool with skinny jeans and has a nice "tough/feminine" look to them. Can't go wrong with these for sure. |
